Top 3 this week

Here are our 3 favourite events happening this week

Wag‑O‑Ween and After Pawty

If you’re looking for something delightfully different this weekend, bring the whole (two- and four-legged) family to downtown Thornbury. The fun kicks off with the dog costume walk & contest (9:30 am check-in) and then moves to the patio at Thornbury Craft Co. from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Expect hot spiced cider samples, house-made dog cookies, and a “Pup-Up Market” with vendors like The Barking Brew and Le Pooch Boutique. It’s a mix of festive fall air, wagging tails, and friendly community vibes. Don’t forget to grab an Instagram-worthy photo of your pooch in costume!

Boos and Booze Pub Crawl

For those who prefer Halloween fun with a bit more spook, head to downtown Kincardine on Saturday evening (6:00 pm–11:00 pm) for this spirited pub crawl. Pick up your free stamp-card at a local business, don your Halloween costume (zombie walk encouraged) and visit participating bars along Queen Street for drink specials, music and a chance to win prizes. If you’re looking to mingle, dress up, and enjoy some lakeshore nightlife with a Halloween twist, this one’s for you.

Elmwood Halloween Trail

Get your costumes ready for a fall favourite — the Elmwood Halloween Trail is back and it’s all about fun for families in the Brockton/Elmwood area. Starting around 10:00 am and running until about 2:00 pm, the community centre transforms into a safe and spirited spot where kids (and the young-at‐heart) can wander a themed “trail” indoors and out, collect treats, enjoy fall-themed activities, and explore a touch of spook-but-safe Halloween cheer.

Community Calendar

Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

Our Community Calendar was getting a bit too enthusiastic. Turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.

So we’ve given it its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.

Foodie Flash

Jeans Family Restaurant - Kincardine

If you’re craving comfort and simplicity this week, swing by Jean’s Family Restaurant in downtown Kincardine.

With its straightforward menu of stacked burgers, all-day breakfasts, and hearty diner classics, it hits the spot when modern fancy-fare just won’t do.

Think: bacon & eggs with a side of home-fries, or a double-cheese burger and fries, served in a place where your coffee cup never hits empty.

Friendly locals, affordable fare, zero pretense, the kind of spot that reminds you why you love food for food’s sake.

Hidden Gem of the week

Haunted Hike at Cyprus Lake

Deep in the Bruce Peninsula, the forest around Cyprus Lake transforms into something magical, and just a little eerie, for one day/night only.

The Haunted Hike invites you to wander the trail as daylight fades, with carved lanterns glowing through the trees and storytellers sharing spooky tales of the peninsula’s past.

It’s equal parts peaceful and spine-tingling, crunching leaves underfoot, mist off the lake, and the kind of quiet that makes you glance over your shoulder (in a good way).

Perfect for families or adventurous couples looking to soak in autumn at its most atmospheric.
