Three days of live music on a wooded riverside campus just outside Durham, and the lineup is stacked. Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Tim Baker, Begonia, and Tom Wilson lead a bill full of Canadian roots and indie talent. Camp on site or come for the day. Wiarton Ribfest — Friday-Monday, July 10-13 | Bluewater Park, Wiarton

Four days of low and slow. Championship ribbers set up their smokers, there's live music and a midway buzz, and the lake is right there when you need a break. Gates open at 11 and run late Friday through Sunday, then wind down Monday afternoon. Come hungry.

Bruce County Comicon — Saturday, July 11 | 11am-4pm | Southampton Coliseum

Cosplay, comics, and collectibles take over the Southampton Coliseum for an afternoon. Bring the kids, wear the costume, and lean all the way into it. A fun, family-friendly change of pace from the beach.

The best week of summer is the one you don't spend stuck in traffic. Skip the five-hour drive north. The lake you're daydreaming about is probably twenty minutes away.

Well, that got out of hand in the best way. We got more than 100 burgers submitted, every one of them somebody's pick for the burger you'd send a friend across the county for. We read every last one, tallied them up, and these ten spots rose to the top.

There's a café in Durham where the same person who seats you also takes your order, cooks your dinner, and hand-folds the momos.

That person is Robin Pradhan. Nepalese roots, about a decade cooking in five-star kitchens in Amsterdam, then he landed in the Bruce Peninsula and started Rocky Raccoon. The place has moved around the region for years before finally settling on Garafraxa Street in Durham. Most nights it's just Robin, running the room and the kitchen at once.

The momos are the thing to order. Little hand-folded dumplings, and the fillings run exotic, so it might be bison one visit and water buffalo the next. The butter chicken gets ordered on repeat too. Robin cooks close to home, pulling from local farmers when he can, so the menu shifts with what's around.

It's small, and it feels less like a restaurant than like eating at someone's table. Warm, a little eclectic, no rush. You leave already planning the next visit.

Right in Thornbury, a ten-minute walk from the main street, eight acres of raspberry rows open up for the season this week.

This was Charlie and Bea Ardiel's apple orchard once. Three generations later, their great-grandkids replanted the ground and turned it into a u-pick raspberry farm. Same family, same soil, about seventy-five years on.

You grab a basket and fill it yourself, by the pint or by the flat. If picking in the July sun isn't your thing, the stand keeps pre-picked berries, homemade raspberry jam, and freeze-dried raspberries to take home.

It's the kind of slow summer morning that makes the season feel like it's actually happening. Kids in the rows, warm berries straight off the cane, the bay air doing its thing.

Here's the catch. They open July 11 and raspberry season is short, maybe four weeks, so this is a go-now-or-wait-till-next-year kind of trip.
