Top 3 this week

Here are our 3 favourite events happening this week

Neustadt & District Lions Club – Chicken Wing Dinner

When: Saturday, Feb 28 @ 6–10 PM Where: Neustadt Community Centre, Neustadt

The Neustadt Lions are back with their 2nd Annual Chicken Wing Dinner and it's shaping up to be a good time. We're talking juicy, delicious wings, a fully licensed bar, and live entertainment to keep the night rolling. Round up the crew, grab a plate, and settle in—this is one of those perfect Saturday nights where the food is hot, the drinks are cold, and the company is even better.

Coldest Night of the Year Walk

When: Saturday, Feb 28 Where: Locations across Grey-Bruce

Lace up, layer up, and walk for a cause. The Coldest Night of the Year is back. Choose between 2 km and 5 km routes, enjoy rest stops and snacks along the way, and if you raise $150+ you'll score a CNOY toque. It's free to register, family-friendly, and the kind of night that makes you feel good about braving the cold. Each walk is supporting different local charities. Check out the full community calendar to see all of the walks happening across our region.

Great Canadian Wrestling – Live Wrestling

When: Saturday, Feb 28 | Doors @ 6 PM, Bell @ 6:30 PM Where: Owen Sound Legion

Body slams, flying elbows, and a good cause—what more do you need? Great Canadian Wrestling is bringing hard-hitting, family-friendly action to Owen Sound with wrestling superstars from all over Ontario. Tickets are just $20 for adults and $15 for kids, or go big with front row seats for $30. Stick around at intermission to meet the wrestlers, grab a signed program, and check out the Lucha mask collection. Don't forget: Bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank and you'll be entered to win prizes. Great night out, great cause.

Sponsored Spotlight

Mildmay Rotary Pickleball Tournament

Think you and your partner have what it takes? Time to prove it.

The Rotary Club of Mildmay is hosting a Doubles Pickleball Tournament on the arena floor at the Mildmay Carrick Complex, and it's going to be a battle. Double elimination — so you get one mulligan, but after that, you're done.

The Details:

  • When: Saturday, May 2nd | Registration 8:30 AM, Games start 9:00 AM

  • Where: Mildmay Carrick Complex (Arena Floor)

  • Cost: $80 per team

  • Format: Doubles. Double Elimination. All heart.

Oh, and it's a licensed event with a food booth — because nothing pairs better with a competitive dink rally than a cold drink and a burger.

Spots are limited, so don't sleep on this one.

Community Calendar

Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

Our Community Calendar was getting a bit too enthusiastic. Turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.

So we’ve given it its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.

Foodie Flash

Bonfire on Queen — Paisley

Tucked away in the river village of Paisley, chef-owner Chris Shaw (27 years in kitchens across England, Australia, and Canada) is turning out Neapolitan-style stone-oven pizzas and hand-rolled pastas using local ingredients.

It's one of Bruce County's only FeastOn-certified restaurants. Reviewers are calling it the best pizza they've ever had. One even said it rivals what they ate in Italy!

The menu rotates with weekly specials showcasing local, seasonal ingredients (think truffle mushroom pizza and duck confit pappardelle).

The patio sits under a canopy of trees, and if you're on the Saugeen River, you can literally paddle up and grab a pizza and a pint. Located at 342 Queen St N, Paisley.

Hidden Gem of the week

Old Baldy Conservation Area — Kimberley

A 15-minute snowshoe hike from the parking lot brings you to the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, 152 metres above Beaver Valley and the village of Kimberley.

The views are massive. Wide open across the valley, especially dramatic in winter when everything is blanketed in snow. The trail connects to the Bruce Trail and there's a 4 km loop that runs along the bluff edge then descends into the valley.

Snow can pile waist-high up here, so snowshoes are a must. It's one of those spots that feels like a secret, even though it's right in our backyard. There is a $10 parking fee, but it goes toward improving the trail!
