Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week

Community Calendar
Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

Our Community Calendar was getting a bit too enthusiastic. Turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.
So we’ve given it its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.
Foodie Flash
The Yard - Owen Sound

The River District’s Smoky Secret While the summer tourists flock to the waterfront, the locals in Owen Sound know the real flavour is happening a few blocks away at The Yard. Tucked into the River District, this spot has quietly become the go-to for serious BBQ without the pretence.
They focus on one thing and do it exceptionally well: low-and-slow smoked meats. It’s unpretentious, family-run, and offers the kind of hearty, stick-to-your-ribs comfort food that gets us through a Grey-Bruce winter. If you haven't been yet, you are missing out on a true local heavyweight.
Where: 948 2nd Ave E, Owen Sound
Must Try: The Applewood Smoked Pulled Pork (it melts in your mouth) or the Ribs & Wings combo.
Hidden Gem of the week
Allen Park Conservation Area - Allen Park

The Ultimate Toboggan Hill If you want to feel like a kid again this weekend, skip the expensive ski lift tickets and head to Allan Park near Hanover instead.
Tucked away on a back road, this spot is home to what locals arguably consider the best toboggan hill in the region. It’s steep, wide, and fast—perfect for thrill-seekers or families looking to burn off some energy. If hurtling down a hill isn’t your speed, the park also maintains over 16km of cross-country ski and snowshoe trails that wind through a stunning (and quiet) winter forest.
It’s simple, free, and exactly how winter in Grey-Bruce is meant to be enjoyed.
Where: Allan Park Rd (Concession 3), just southeast of Hanover.
Pro Tip: There are no rentals or cafes here. Pack your own sleds and a thermos of hot chocolate for the parking lot après-toboggan.
