Top 3 this week

Here are our 3 favourite events happening this week

Walkerton Chicken Fest – Sat, Sept 20

Get cluckin’. From a backyard-Olympics smack-down to a wing-eating gauntlet and a barn-board-shaking dinner dance, this rebooted festival is the most fun you can have while smelling like BBQ chicken. All profits fuel Walkerton’s 2026 Homecoming, so every drumstick moves the hometown party needle.

Lucknow Firefighter Breakfast – Sat, Sept 20, 8 – 11:30 a.m.

Flapjacks, bacon, and a side of civic pride: toss whatever you can into the “pay-what-you-can” boot and help the Lucknow crew buy a new gear for fire-and-rescue ops. Carb-load, caffeinate, and walk out a local hero before most people find their slippers.

157th Wiarton Fall Fair – Fri eve, Sept 19 & Sat, Sept 20

Plaid sleeves + falling leaves = the “Biggest Little Fair in the North.” Think horse pulls, farmers’ Olympics, antique cars, and enough midway snacks to sink a schooner. It’s small-town Ontario at its belt-busting, boot-stomping best.

Sponsored Spotlight

The Christmas Light Guys

Headline your house, not the evening news.

Why gamble a Saturday, your rotator cuff, and one shaky step-ladder for a “meh” holiday light display, when a local crew already fixes every cold-fingered complaint you muttered last year?

We supply the pro-grade LEDs, put ’em up safely, take ’em down in January, and store the whole tangled mess at our place, so your garage stays clutter-free.

  • Early-Bird Special: book before Thanksgiving and get some $$ knocked off the bill.

  • No-Pressure Quote: 60 seconds, one form, zero commitment.

  • Limited Spots: small local team → calendar fills fast.

Spend December warm, smug, and widely complimented. While your neighbours debate ladder angles.

Get your free quote HERE and let gravity bother someone else this holiday season.

Community Calendar

Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

Well, it turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.

So we’ve given our community calendar its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.

Foodie Flash

Bonfire on Queen - Paisley

Picture a tiny river town, a converted general store, and a 700-degree stone oven turning out Neapolitan pies so blistered they’d make a Naples nonna jealous.

I rolled in after a lazy lap of Paisley’s main drag and watched the chef shave local mushroom confit onto a truffle-cream pizza that vanished before my second pint.

Scratch pastas, a tree-shaded patio, and Feast On bragging rights make this spot the definition of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it greatness.

Hidden Gem of the week

reDiscovered on Marsh Antique & Vintage - Clarksburg

Pull off Hwy 26, duck down Marsh St., and boom, you’re in a Canadiana wormhole.

Kara & Dan Bowles stock this shop like they’re prepping for an Antiques Roadshow speed-round: orchard ladders, mid-century barware, wooden apple crates, vintage textiles, the works.

I budgeted five minutes, lost sixty, and left with a 1940s enamel sign and a smug “no marketplace for me” grin.

They’re open Thursday - Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Inventory flips fast, so if something speaks to you, scoop it before the next person does.
