Top 3 this week
Here are our 3 favourite events happening this week
Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular - All week
Ten straight days of rods, reels and roaring crowds under then tent at Kelso Beach. Even if you never cast a line, the giant derby tent dishes up fish-fry plates, chainsaw-carving shows and nightly live bands. Plus that unmistakable Georgian Shores sunset backdrop. I can’t recommend heading to the tent enough. Great experience!
Neustadt Night Markt – Fri Aug 29, 3-8 pm
Neon lanterns, indie tunes and the aroma of malt in the air. Sip a fresh brew at Neustadt Springs Brewery while browsing dozens of maker stalls loaded with art, vintage finds and handcrafted snacks. The brewery parking lot turns into a Euro-style night bazaar. Bring cash, a tote and your dancing shoes.
Paisley Firefighters’ Breakfast – Sat Aug 30, 8-11 am
Start your Saturday with sizzling bacon, fluffy pancakes and a side of community spirit. Station 80’s firefighters flip plates by donation, with proceeds fuelling local gear and projects. Show up hungry, chat with the crew, and leave feeling like a hero.
Sponsored Spotlight
Good Grief Coffee Roasters

Morning ride along Beaver Valley?
Swing by Bruce Street for a cup roasted right on site. Good Grief keeps the café humming by day and the small-batch roaster turning at night, so every pour, be it a silky flat white or a simple drip, lands fresh.
Doughnuts rotate with the seasons, staff know their beans, and there’s always a sunny seat up front for people-watching.
Pop in, refuel, and be on your way—though chances are you’ll linger for a second cup.

Community Calendar
Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

Our Community Calendar was getting a bit too enthusiastic. Turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.
So we’ve given it its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.
Foodie Flash
Marilynne

Tucked inside Markdale’s old firehall, Marilynne feels like a friend’s farmhouse kitchen turned up a notch.
The black-garlic mushroom toast and grandma-style meatballs live up to the hype, while a 36-oz share-steak carved tableside turns dinner into a mini-celebration.
Weekend brunch (11 am-3 pm) goes fast, so a quick Tock reservation is always the smart move.
Hidden Gem of the week
Codys Egg Shack

A tiny self-serve shed on Concession 14 that overflows with truly farm-fresh eggs, pickled eggs, pepperettes and some of the best jerky I’ve ever had!
Stocked by Cody, a local teen with cerebral palsy who’s turned his roadside hobby into a must-stop detour.
Pay your tab in the honesty box, grab a dozen still-warm brown beauties, and you’ll swear breakfast tastes better when it comes straight from Cody’s cooler.
Keep an eye on his socials for surprise baked-good pop-ups.
