Top 3 this week
Here are our 3 favourite events happening this week

Golftoberfest - Birdie Barn - Walkerton — Fri Oct 10, 7 PM
Swap lederhosen for golf shoes! Birdie Barn transforms into a Bavarian beer hall with giant pretzels, live tunes by Whiskey Glasses and frosty steins between simulator swings. $25 scores your grub, games and door-prize shots. All under one roof, rain or shine. Prost to the end of outdoor-golf season!
Thornbury Turkey Trot - Beaver Valley Community Centre, Thornbury - Sat Oct 11, 6:45 AM-Noon
Lace up, dress like a turkey and tackle Georgian-Bay views on 21 K, 10 K, 5 K or the free 1 K kids’ dash. This Rotary run sells out yearly for its fall-colour course, post-race pies and brag-worthy swag—plus every stride fuels local community projects. Gobble up a bib while transfers last!
Apple Harvest Festival - Blue Mountain Village, Blue Mountain, Oct 10-13
Think Thanksgiving street party: live bands (Sugar, Shipyard Kitchen Party), stilt-walkers, cider sips, mountain-top vistas and harvest-inspired eats. Wander the vibrant village, hop the gondola for a colour-soaked panorama, then join the barn-yard bonanza scavenger hunt. A free, family-friendly way to crunch into peak apple country.

Community Calendar
Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

Our Community Calendar was getting a bit lengthy. Turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.
So we’ve given it its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.
Foodie Flash
Heart’s Tavern - Kimberley

Tucked into a 19th-century stone inn on Grey Rd 13, Heart’s Tavern fires up a wood-burning hearth and spins what’s in season. Think house-smoked trout with squid-ink butter, cider-braised pork belly, and butter-poached fall veg that came from the farm up the hill this morning.
The chalkboard menu changes daily, the wine list is small-but-mighty, and every table feels like a secret locals’ find (book ahead; seats go fast).
A perfect post-hike or après-apple-picking reward without a whiff of chain-restaurant sameness.
Hidden Gem of the week
Preposterous Pumpkins – Flesherton

Swap the standard patch for a pumpkin playground.
This tiny roadside farm grows mould-shaped jack-o’-lanterns. Think Chucky, King Kong, skulls and witch faces. Alongside heirloom squash and photo-ready piles of orange giants.
Open weekends through Oct 31, it also hosts a Halloween makers’ market, local vendors and spooky selfie spots.
Grab a specialty mini for the mantel or a monster moulded gourd for the porch, then wander over to Eugenia Falls for peak-colour waterfall views.
A perfect fall detour that’s equal parts quirky and quintessential Grey County.
