I'm sitting on the couch right now, waiting for Canada to take on Denmark, putting the finishing touches on this week's newsletter. And I just had to pause for a second.
There are over 6,000 of you reading this every single week. Six thousand. That number blows my mind.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for subscribing, for opening these emails, for caring about what's happening in our amazing little corner of the world. It means more than you know.
I hope the holidays treated you well and that 2026 brings you nothing but good things.

Sponsored Spotlight
Great Books at the Williamsford Mill

Stop doom-scrolling and start page-turning.
Located inside a stunning 1847 grist mill on Highway 6, this isn't just a bookstore—it’s a labyrinth of stories. With over 80,000 titles stacked floor-to-ceiling, it is the ultimate spot to hunt for a rare gem or your next winter obsession.
The Vibe: The smell of old paper, creaky floors, and endless discovery.
The Mission: Go in for one book, leave with a stack.
Find them: 316010 Highway 6, Williamsford (You can't miss the mill!)

Community Calendar
Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

Our Community Calendar was getting a bit too enthusiastic. Turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.
So we’ve given it its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.
Foodie Flash
The Flying Chestnut Kitchen - Eugenia

If you blink driving through the tiny village of Eugenia, you might miss one of Grey County’s best meals. Housed in a converted rustic general store, The Flying Chestnut is the definition of winter comfort.
Chef Shawn Adler (known for his Indigenous roots and mastery of bistro classics) runs a kitchen that feels less like a restaurant and more like a dinner party. The menu is written on a chalkboard and changes daily, but the vibe is consistent: unpretentious, eclectic, and delicious.
The Vibe: Mismatched furniture, vinyl records, and deep warmth.
The Order: If you see the Indian Frybread Tacos on the board, order them immediately. Otherwise, trust the daily curry or the ribs.
Hidden Gem of the week
Handicraft House Trading Post

Located just north of Wiarton on Highway 6, this isn't your average roadside gift shop, it’s a local institution. Housed in a sprawling log building, the Handicraft House offers the perfect antidote to big-box holiday shopping.
Step inside and you are immediately hit with the scent of genuine leather and wood. It feels less like a store and more like a frontier trading post, packed floor-to-ceiling with goods that are built to last.
The Vibe: Rustic, warm, and fascinatingly cluttered. It’s the kind of place where you can spend 45 minutes just looking at the shelves.
The Find: They are famous for their massive selection of moccasins and genuine sheepskin products. If you need to keep your feet warm this winter, this is the place to go.
Pro Tip: Look for the locally made indigenous art and pottery tucked in among the leather goods—great for unique gifts.
